They told me it was settled... Now they want more money!

I got into debt a few years ago and finally was able to get out of it. I worked really hard and saved up to pay my bills off. Well I settled with this company for my JC Penney account and I paid what we agreed/settled on. A month later they sent me a letter verifying my account was all paid off and now settled.
Two months after that I received a letter saying that I owned them still. I called and they were very rude to me!!! I told them I had all the paperwork to dispute the balance. They told me to fax it over, so I did. I called back to verify they got my fax and they got mad and said when they receive faxes they apply it to the listed account but she would not verify that they got the fax... That wasn't her department and I was not allowed to talk to the department that handles them!
Now it's been another month and they sent me a letter. "Enclosed please find an original validation of debt that verifies the debt". They are disputing my dispute! And this "validation of debt" they enclosed, is no validation. It's just a paper with the account # and the balance due. THAT DOESN'T VALIDATE ANYTHING!!!
Someone told me to try this website to see if they are listed as doing this to other people... And sure enough, they have done the SAME thing to so many other people. Some reports I read sounded like I was reading my own.
The company is still very rude to me and hang up on me if I don't want to pay it. I just want to talk to somebody! The sadist part to this story is that I am only 22. I HAD my whole life ahead of me and now I will never get my credit back up because of this company!!!
