I recently received a call from who claims to be: 'Max Carter' from the 'National Processing Center'. It is almost identical to the one that Mandy from Ames, iowa, describes. The person 'Max' spoke with a heavy, (possibly indian) accent and so i doubt that is his real name. He was very unproffesional and threatening. He calls demanding my social security number before even telling me why he was was calling. I refused, and soon after got another call from them which i didnt answer.

He left a cold, lengthy voicemail in which he states that "i must call him the very second i receive the message, the hotline to his division is 760-651-1117. Don't disregard the message, if you don't return the call immediately i will face the consequences tommorow morning". I called him back next morning, but no answer, and there was no recorded message about the company or option to leave a voice mail message.

Later on i get a call from him in which he was annoyed that i put the phone down on him the previous day. He stated that if i did not settle this immediately then he would give the go ahead for the sheriff to take me to the courthouse the next morning. He used a threatening tone and said that i had committed a crime and that i was going to pay the consequences. Sceptical, i asked to speak to a supervisor. He put me on hold and came back after a while and said there was no-one available (convieniently).

Fter i continued to quiz him about the company he kept on changing the subject and finally hung up on me. He wouldn't give the address of the company. I called back and a person answered the phone with 'National Processing Division', (he also had a strong accent), and i asked to speak to a supervisor and not the 'Max Carter' i spoke with earlier as he was very rude. He told me to hold and then of course i was transfered to Max Carter. He claimed at that point that he was indeed a supervisor. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he dodged the issue just reitterating that i will be taken from my home and made to go to court the next day and how i had committed a crime. I told him i had not received any correspondence in the mail from him and he said he had sent 12 to 15 emails to me (to an old email account that is closed).

Interestingly, he had my personal information. Some of the information he wanted me to verify would have been specific to the information i gave Sonicpayday.com and so i think he may be an employee, ex-employee or knows someone working there.

Hopefully this is a hoax and i wont be forceably dragged to court tommorow. - Time will tell i guess! I would be interested to know if anyone else has received similar calls and what the outcome was.
