Through December PacifiCare Health Insurance was paying for my prescription for a drug to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Then they announced that as of January 1, they are no longer going to pay for it. They agree I need the drug... They simply no longer pay for that one. Of course, my premium is even higher in 2001 than it was when they were paying for the drug. This is not the only drug PacifiCare has dropped from its formulary. They stop paying for drugs at will leaving patients no choice but to accept cheaper, less effective drugs.
