Threatening phone calls claiming that I would be arrested for not paying payday loan

I was being harassed by a company claiming that I owe them money for a payday loan. The called about 8 times and left messages stating that this was a time sensitive issue and that if I did not return the call he wished me luck and prayers. I finally answered his call. He was an Hindu man name John, then he said his name was Jason. Claiming to work for the legal affidavit department of US National bank on behalf of Cash Advance. He was very difficult to understand. He had my personal details such as last 4 numbers of my social security number and my bank name and last 4 numbers of my account.

He said that I took a $300.00 payday loan in 2007. He said that I owed $5000.00 and asked if I had any other fraud cases pending against me. He stated that I had committed check fraud by defaulting on this loan and faced federal charges and jail time. I asked why this was the first time I was hearing about this and he kept rambling about federal charges and the fact that I was facing arrest and that officers will be at my house if I did not settle the matter. I was SCARED! I then asked what I could do to resolved the matter and that I would not admit to owing this debt but wanted to resolve it anyway. He said that if I admit that it was not my intention to default the could offer a "good faith" settlement but he would have talk to his Lawyer, Jack Robert, to reduce the amount if it was true that I did not intentionally default on the loan. Then he did the lower it to $1285.00 and he said that he needed it today with a letter of apology and within an hour of hour phone call and that matter would be resolved. He said if I didn't that I would need to get an attorney because I would be arrested if I did not comply with his demand for money.

Instead of being back into a corner I decided to see if I could find any information about US National Bank on the internet and found instead websites discussing this being a scam. I then reported it to all of the appropriate authorities and called him back. I told him that I knew this was scam and I told him that I recorded our conversation and that I had reported him to the FBI, Secret Service, FTC, etc... He then told me that he will say a prayer for me because I will need it. Then he hung up. I have not received a call from him since.

Please beware of these people. They are ruthless and cruel for what they are doing. I consider myself to be a sensible. Level headed and not easily scammed or intimidated person but this fast talking scammer had me shaken.
