Stealing hard earned dollars, preying on the fears of people and their credit City, Sent To Lincoln, Nebraska

I received a letter on Wed. June 25 that said "URGENT COMMUNICATION". I was told that I wrote a bad check of $146.43 to Sapp Bros., and that check fraud is a crime in the state of Nebraska and I would be exposed to the possibility of civil and criminal action. The letter also stated that a previous collection agency had made numerous unsuccessful attempts.

The choice is mine, the letter told me, and this is the last chance to resolve this without the possibility of criminal and/or cival action, if I sent payment right away. Sanford Hutton (ext. 112 from the 888 number they gave me) was the agent contacting me.

It seemed fishy, with no web address, as well as no further information on the check that I wrote. I knew that Sapp Bros. Is a group of truck stops thoughout the midwest, and I have even made purchases at a few, but NEVER with a check, and NEVER over $100.

I contacted the Nebraska Attorney General, as of now I have not heard anything back; but I know I am not the only one in Nebraska, and nation wide, who has received letters like this. Thanks to all who previously wrote a report on these scammers, giving me piece of mind whilst I was panicing if this was actually happening.
