Sales calls that promise things they can't deliver. Provide 3 page sheet of banks

Top Savings contacted my fiance and told her that they could guarantee that she would get a credit card that would consolidate her current credit cards. She told them that she could not afford the services ($500), and thanks anyway. They then told her that they had a program that they could enroll her in that would only cost $300. She said she did not have the cash funds, and they told her she could pay with a credit card!!! What kind of legitimate credit consolidation business lets someone go deeper into credit card debt.

She felt overwhelmed with her credit card payments, and was talked into submitting half the payment that day on the phone. With the agreement that she would pay the rest after the first part of the service was completed. They sent her a 5 page booklet with a list of banks that might be able to approve her. It was not catered to her situation at all, and it was a complete piece of garbage. Anyone could have created the list by going on the internet. She did not have the money to pay them back, and when I called to pay her debt they were very hostile to me. I asked what service we would be paying for.

They told me that because we went with the $300 package that they would not contact the banks for us. When I asked what they first part of the service package was, they said that it had already been completed. They said that they booklet with a list of 5 banks was the first part of the service. When I asked what the second part of the service was they said they would help her get approved. When I asked if they could be more specific, they said a representative would contact her and tell her what she needs to apply for the credit cards. The booklet clearly outlined what you need to apply, and any bank website or customer service line clearly outlines what is needed to apply for a credit card.

When I expressed that we were not satisfied with that level of service, and that I did not see any value added from the second part of the service, I was told that it doesn't matter. They said that she has a contract with the company, and she owes the money. They threatened to send her to collections.

I don't see why we have to pay for nothing, and want to find some recourse. If anyone out there can help please contact me. I feel violated and do not know who to report this company to. It seems that we paid $150, and will be forced to pay another $150 for a 5 page booklet that tells us 5 or 6 banks to apply to. It is a huge rip off. I want this company out of my life, and I don't want my fiance to be sent to collections.
