On credit report, never contacted me, old debt

So me and my husband are trying to clean up our credit. I was a young dumb kid, I will admit it. But I am trying... I pulled my credit report the other day and came across this company and have never heard from them, no calls no letters. Its on a really old debt from an old cell phone that I had back in 2001 or so. THey have listed on my credit report that I made a payment of $119 dollars and I have not lived in their service area since 2003ish and I had forgotten all about it until now, and I sure and heck didnt make a payment to them because they had never contacted me... How is this possible? What am I suppose to do with this?
