Consumer's Reward Program - Johnson Financials
Consumer's Reward Program Lottery - Niagara Falls, Ontario - Counterfeit Check Canada

Business & Finance

I received a letter from a company called "Johnson Financials" alerting me that they had drew some lucky numbers and that I had won their lottery.

The letter states that I have been approved for a lump sum of $38,000, drawn from a total prize of $480,000 and drawn from a pool of 98,000 customers. They specified a date in which they tried to contact me, but is completely untrue. Nobody from "Johnson Financials" called me concerning a consumer's reward program lottery.

They advised me to keep this award from public notice. Enclosed was a check for $3,820. I was told to contact a Joe Watson or Cecelia Clark at 1-905-598-4489 to finalize my claim.

Like a fool, I deposited the check into my bank account. Five to seven business days later, I received a call from the bank telling me that I had deposited a counterfiet check. I was slammed with a stop payment fee and overdraft fees.

The next day, I called Elsa State Bank & Trust, where the check was issued. They told me they had received numerous calls concerning a check that was issued from their bank. They told me not to deposit it since it was counterfiet, but it was already too late.

Be warned, this is a scam. If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. Do not deposit this check into your bank account or try to cash it.
