Raised my interest rate for no reason from 9.99% to 19.72%!

I have a current account with Washington Mutual. I always have paid on time and more than the minimum. I received my statement for this month and my interest rate went up more than double! I contacted them and they told me that their was a message on my bill in January telling me that the interest rate was going up and that I needed to send them a letter in writing opting out of my account and it would then close. Of course I didn't see the little message on the bill. Most of the time I log on to their website to check charges and therefore bill pay them.

This is makes me ill and I can't imagine how they can get away with this. Is there anyway to seek legal justice for my sake and others? Please help!!!
