Trying to collect on a debt that we never knew about with custom machine company

About a month ago we started getting calls from FNCB on an account that they are trying to collect on. Please note that just one year ago we purchased a home and cleared all debts before doing so to get a better rate, and the company nor the debt was listed on our credit report. This is no chump change either they are talking in excess of $10,000. When contacted we asked to be given information about the account and they could not supply us with that, only the name of the company. We asked for that company's phone number and they didn't have it. So, we asked them to kindly send us a letter that shows how much we owe. We didn't get the letter but about 10 more calls.

After talking to someone from FNCB again they said they sent a letter and it was returned to them. Funny thing is, I never got a letter or returned a letter from that company. Something fishy with this group. If I rightly owe someone money, I am entitled to know what it is pretaining to and why I have not gotten any letters or calls before now seeing as the account supposely dates back to 1999 or so.

The first call I had gotten from FNCB stated the amount owed, included in that huge interest accrued, the name of the company they were collecting for CLS Ent.inc. And how would you like to make a payment. Funny thing is my husband called them since it was in his name to see if they could give more information and they said the name of the company was RLS Ent Inc. Maybe a simply mistake or one of us hearing them wrong 3 or 4 times, who knows. But I don't understand how this wouldn't have showed on any credit reports or debts before this point if the account was from the late 90's.

We are still waiting on a letter from them.
