Countrywide Home Loans
Lied, manipulated and foreclosed on us with no notice with a buyer at the table califonia

Business & Finance

My husband and I refinanced our home in 2004 to a fixed 30 yr. And about a month or two later were informed that Countrywide had bought our loan and our payment was late. We had sent it to the original mortgage company and it had not been sent to CW. This should have been our first clue about CW.

Fast forward to we were having some life difficulties with chronic illness and obvious loss of job wages from the illness. We contact CW in June to ask for a re-fi, equity loan, anything. They inform us, they will not EVEN speak to us until we are THREE months behind in payments.

We were on a payment plan (with and outside company) that paid a portion of our mortgage every week to avoid as much interest as possible and also to make an extra payment by year end. We called again in July and were told the same thing. We won't talk to you until your 3 months behind and right now your ahead on payments. Again in August, same thing. So in October, we stopped paying, put our house on the market and waited for the call. When they called we explained our situation, sent them a detailed letter of our hardships (as requested by CW) and asked for any kind of reconfiguring we could work out. NOTHING! We asked for a deed in lieu, we asked for approval for a short sale, still NOTHING! We got an offer on the house within 6 weeks on the market, which given the market was remarkable. The negotiator, Gina B., sat on the offer for over a month before getting back to the buyers, who obviously had walked at that point, tired of waiting.

We called them pissed off and said I actually think you want this to go to foreclosure. "Oh that is the last thing we want". We got yet another offer 2 weeks later. This was after talking to a supervisor, telling him (Neal Hernandez) about Gina's negligence. He informed my husband that CW needed to net $XXX for a sale to be approved. We relayed this to our realtor, he relayed it to the buyer. The buyer offered above that amount and we were told we would have an answer in 48-72 hours. 72 hours later our realtor called us and told us there was a sheriff changing the locks on our house and that Countrywide (the lying, manipulative, crooked bxxxxxxx) would now consider us to be trespassing because they had foreclosed on our house. 4 damn months from missed payment to foreclosure! No warning, no letter, no notices, no court date, but all the lies you can imagine. They apparently started the process after the first missed payment and had NO intention of allowing us to sell it or to do a deed in lieu. Let's not forget that they informed us from the start, we won't talk to you until your 3 months behind. I want them taken down. We played by all the rules only they were playing the game with their own set of underhanded, lying, cheating, "screw you" rules.
