Capital One allows merchants to reactivate canceled credit cards and make charges to the card.
My Story..
After April I canceled a credit card. Near the end of the year I began to have issues with a infomercial scam I had gotten suckered into. I called on December 14 to confirm that the card was canceled several disconnections, fraudulent transfer numbers and barely English speaking customer service reps latter I finally got through to an account specialist who confirmed the account was canceled. Then it they recanceled the card which I didn't understand, but was happy it was canceled. Several days latter I received a letter stating that if no charges where made by 30 days after the 14 it would be officially closed. 35 days latter the aforementioned scam company charged to the card. I called to ask how it was possible, ounce again several phone reps and a few managers latter it was explained to me that any merchant could reactivate my card by making a charge to it, that I would have to dispute the charge and they closed the card AGAIN. Alot of good it will do. Good it wasnt a stolen that I canceled.
