Charged me almost $6500 in excess to pay an arrears of $1999.00 Didnot go to foreclosure or attorney Handled through loss mitigation dept They refuse to answer questions why so much was paid back on $1999

In 2005 I lost job. Denied UC benefits for year. Also had major surgery and had to make choice of medicine or delay paying mortgage for one month. Got behind 2 payments. Was hired in new job 1/06 and sent them notice that with first pay, I would be able to pay arrears in full. Everhome told me to "hold on to your payment". They kept sending back my payments.in March Loss Mitigtion Dept said I was good with sending the 2 payments. Later got call saying it was mistake and I owed $8000. MAde arrangement thru them to pay double my mortgage amount for 10 months. Kept asking them why I had to repay so much when it did not to to foreclosure or involve attorneys. They refused to give answer. Attorney I used did not do much to help either. Finally got it all paid back, but now they keep assessing me late fees on my payment when I send late fee each month. I have to do this because of the way my disability retirement is dispursed to me at the end of the month for which it is indicated for. I do not owe them any late fees. They keep harassing me via mail and do not respond to any letters from me.
