Business & Finance

On 8-01-02, First Convenience Bank instituted a $5.00 charge for incomming wire transfers. I first became aware of this was when reviewing my 8-23-02 statementon or about 9-08-02. Upon contacting the Wire Transfer office, I was told the date of the policy change and that there would be no refunds. Talking next to supervisor Joyce Faulkner, she said that this change of policy had been deferred until 11-01-02. My belief is that it was deferred until official notice was provided to their customers. She also offered to refund the charge.
Today, I reviewed my 9-23-02 statement. Again there is a $5.00 charge for a wire transfer. There was no refund of the previous charge. Additionally. The statement included a listing of charges that will take effect 11-01-02. There is no mention of a wire transfer charge on this list.

Contacting supervisor Faulkner again, I was informed by a subordinate that the amount Ms Faulfner had authorized the 9-02 refund but that I should be aware of the wire transfer charge that was announced with the Sept. 2002 statement. The subordinate took my account number and the info that there had been no announcement of the wire transfer charge.

It is ONLY $5.00 but how mant people have paid this without realizing the change in bank policy. It is apparent that information may not be adequately provided to all levels of the staff. Additionally, once the change is in the computer it cannot be reversed.
