Rising Star International, Inc
Rising Star SCAM!

Business & Finance

Rising Star International targets college graduates and promises entry-level opportunity in "Sales/Marketing." There is a two part interview. After an first interview, they talk fast and refuse to answer questions.

Then they call you in for a second interview and ask that you dress in business presentation, so I of course wore a suit and heels. They call you into a room and set you up with a stranger then take you into 'the field' for a training day, where you work for six unpaid hours as they train you to sell a service such as AT&T products (although you do not work for AT&T).

'The Field' means an area in Ohio, for me it was a two hour drive to Zanesville. Once you get the job, you provide your own transportation and they promise to ride your gas money off in taxes at the end of the year.

You then go DOOR TO DOOR to EVERY business in the area and offer to adjust their ATT bill. Most bills are house (meaning you can not adjust them) or the company is corporately owned or already receiving the lowest rates.

THE ENTIRE DAY THE GENGLEMEN I WAS WITH DID NOT ADJUST ONE ATT BILL! His SOLE commission was based on each bill he adjusted.

When he thought he was able to adjust a bill he would have to call (asking to use their phone) a 1-800 number and it would take approximately 30 minutes on the phone to find out if he could do anything.

They took me to 'the field' in one of their cars, so I couldn't leave, even if I wanted to. I was stuck in my heels and suit walking around a town I was not familiar with (in the rain). Then, they take you to lunch (fast food)... And explain to you the levels of their company. A five step program that most end up quitting before phase two.

You make all your money on commission!

It is a waste of time and they do not tell you what you are getting into, its a scam and they are all over monster.com and careerbuilder.com. They use AT&T's name which makes the reputable company look really bad.

Other companies like this function the same way, such as Midara. So watch out and DO YOUR RESERCH even before you confirm the interview!
