HSBC Orchard Credit Card
Failure to comply with contract, Fraud!

I have two credit cards with HSBC, their Orchard and their Platinum cards. I took these cards to help my credit as I had had many years of financial difficulty. My agreement with this company was on time payments for the first year and they would increase my limit. After a year, my increase did not happen, I called and spoke with several customer service reps who stated that yes I had made all my payments for both cards on time, but they could not give me an increase because my credit wasn't good enough!

After a few months of arguing I advised them that they had broken their agreement with me and I therefore considered it a fraud and would not pay the balances (grand total of around $500 /- for BOTH cards).

Since that time I have been harrassed, my credit has been damaged again and even though I haven't used the cards (I shredded them) my balances now total around $1800. Is this legal? They lied to me and did not follow through on their promise of an increase and now charge me charges against charges! Ridiculous. If you have any suggestions to get this off my record and out of my life I would appreciate it!
