Won't give out full company name, tried to pretend to be my friend

A woman named Kris called this morning at 8am. She asked to speak to me, but since the number was unknown, I asked who was calling. All she said was "This is Kris" as if she was one of my friends. Since I don't know anyone named Kris, I said "Kris with who?" She said "I said I'm Kris" to which I responded "I don't know a Kris, so what company are you with?" She said "MCM" "I don't know MCM, what does that stand for?" She wouldn't tell me what the company's full name was, nor why she was calling, other than "its personal business". So when I said I have no business with MCM, she said she will just call back.

The number was unknown, and no return phone number showed up on my caller id. I used to be a debt collector, and I thought that it was illegal not to have a valid return phone number on the caller ID. The only outstanding debt I have was from 5 years ago, and according to the state it was acquired in, the statute of limitations has run out on it, so they can no longer file any legal suits on it (I was an idiot with my first credit card).

If she would have said "MCM stands for Midland Credit Management", I might have told her that yes it was me and would have let her discuss why she is calling, but since she would not state the full company name, trying to discguise the reason she was calling, and the number wasn't displayed, they are violating the FTC laws regarding debt collection, and therefore I refuse to talk to them.

This company needs to be shut down. From all the problems reported and legal issues I have found with them, they should not be allowed to collect debts.
