Business & Finance

My husband and I bought a trailer from Oakwood Mobile Homes in 2001. WE thought it would be a good first home. When I asked about the home being put out on my property I asked about a moisture shield being put underneath it, since I live in the South. The dealer assured me that it would not be needed. We went to look at our trailer. It was in the process of being repaired from the previous owner, it all looked good when we looked in it. We we signed the papers and the trailer was delivered. It was then that the stuff they said was done was not done and proved to be so. The floor in front of the shower was starting to fall through, the vent in one of the bedrooms was completely covered, we had to cut the carpet off from in front of the vent. WE were sent the mortgage paperwork and was shocked to find that we were fooled into assuming someone else's loan. At first we were ok with that. Then My husband lost his job of 71/2 years in December and I lost mine the following Febuaury. We worked to try to make our mortgage payments on time, but eventually we started falling behind.in 2003 My husband and I had had enough and we started looking for another place to live, while the repossesion calls got worse and worse. After we had found a place to go we called Oakwood and said that they could have it.

WE forgot all about the payments to Oakwood after we gave them back the trailer, we figured thay got the trailer debt paid in full. OH NO!!! Come to find out the trailer that they suckered us into buying for $30,000 was only able to be resold for $7,000. After the did some so-called reapirs. Now I have according to Oakwood acceptance, on my credit report, I owe them some $30,000. Then to top it off when Oakwood Finance Co. Went bankrupt, which we didn't know about, and Vanderbilt buys them off. Vanderbilt says, according to my credit report, that I owe them $35,000. But both companies appear on my credit report and they are dragging my adn my husbands credit through the mud because it looks like we owe 2 different companies some $65,000 in mortgage payments. ANd to top it all off the companies all say that the home was not foreclosed on, but voluntarily repossed so I figured that it be good, BUT NO, and they are refusing to fix the fact that I don't owe two Companies. So I am just trying to hold on till 2010 when it comes off my credit report.

But they wrecked my credit and it SOOOOOOOOOOOO not cool!!!
