Startup Essentials/A-1 Leasing
James one, scammed into a lease for defective laptop equipment

Business & Finance

I was contacted by a Salesperson from Startup Essentials. He said that the company was listed with the BBB and were backed by JP Morgan Chase, HSBC bank and that they would help me get started in my own home business; he stated that they would be no guarantee that I would make money, which I know that requires a lot of hard work, which I didn't mind investing my time doing for extra income. However I did expect to receive a product that was reliable and in good condition.

Not only was the laptop (ACER) unreliable it never worked properly. It was defective. I sent the laptop back to A-1 Leasing via insured mailed with a returned receipt, which was signed for by an employee at A-1 Leasing, LLC; I contacted my bank to stop all payment authorization for the lease. I wrote a letter demanding that my lease be terminated due to the defective laptop equipment.

I contacted an attorney who also sent a letter to A-1 Leasing, LLC and Startup Essentials informing them that I no longer wanted to do business with their company.in response to the letters I recently recieved a letter from A-1 Leasing demanding payment for the past 2 months for the lease plus and additonal late fee of Forty dollars.

These companies still expect to receive monthly payments for a defective laptop that never worked and that has been returned and accepted by there company. They really believe that consumers should be responsible for continue payments for products that are defective and that they have received back. It seems to me there should be a law against such deceptive business practices as these company have going.

Startup Essential procures the leases from unsuspecting consumers on behalf of A-1 Leasing, LLC and probably receives a percentage for each non-cancellable lease they secure. I am not going to be a victim and just continue to pay for a lease product that I no longer have or want. I have taken steps to get out of this so called non-cancellable lease.

Hopefully the law will step in to stop scams such as this one that these companies like Startup Essentials and A-1 Lease, LLC and have them proscuted to the full extend of the law. There should be no such thing as a non-cancellable on defective products or any product that has been returned to the company. Startup Essentials has membership to BBB has been revoked as of May 14.

I am now getting ready to send a complaint to the Attorney General's office in Grand Rapids, Michigan against A-1 Leasing. If anyone know of any other legal steps that can be taken against these companies please share whatever information you may have. If we all come together we can put a stop to companie like Startup Essentials and A-1 Leasing, LLC from doing anymore harm to other consumers.
