Claim I have a debt for 29 yrs plus ripoff

I received a notice in the mail to submit a check for nearly $2,000.00 to Afni the creditor named as Verizon. This notice was sent to me under my married name.

In total disbelief I called Afni to hear that I had a debt from 1966 to 1995 and the creditor was Verizon. I immediately told them in 1979 my name changed through marriage to the one they had on their mailing to me and that in 1966 I was very young, living at home with my parents and did NOT have a phone of my own! I also said Verizon wasn't even around then to which the person replied "well, it could have been AT&T or Bell and it just kept getting passed on. I NEVER until last year ever had Verizon as my carrier, last year my husband got a cell phone with them and THAT is under HIS name.

The person I spoke with at AFNI told me to send a letter of dispute back. I don't want to do this. I did NOT give any info at all to this person about anything including my maiden name before 1979. This really has me so upset. This person said the debt is 29 years old from 1966 to 1995 and here in 2007 they contact me 41 years later!
