Fraudulent Credit Card Offer ripoff

For weeks I kept getting calls from a phone # w / area code 727. They would call 4-8 times a day. I didn't recognize the phone # so I would ignore it-they never left a message.

One day I finally answered it. The sales rep was offering me a guaranteed Visa card w / a $500 credit limit. They said I needed to pay the $129.95 application & processing fee which was debited from my checking account. Then, once that payment was made, they would issue the credit card. They said to allow 20 business days to process & have a card issued.

What I rcvd about 2 weeks later was a cheesy booklet titled: NATIONAL CONSUMER SERVICES, (then had Visa & MasterCard logo's) CREDIT FOR YOU & YOUR FAMILY ENJOY, THE BENEFITS OF HAVING A VISA AND MASTERCARD! Even the pictures of the people on the front are pathetic. They look like they were taken in 1982.

The 1st page in the booklet has a Guarantee*: You will receive up to $5,000 in credit or your fees will be refunded. Our 60-day money back re-fund policy is that you will be refunded, when you have been denied credit from any three (3) of the listed credit card sources. Simply send three (3) denial letters along with a written request for a refund to the address at the left. We will also need a copy of your current bank statement that lists the fee paid to National Consumer Services.

This book has ridiculous chapters like "What Is Credit?" "What Are Credit Bureau's?" "What Is In A Credit Report?"...

Right about the same time this pkg was postmarked from this so called company I got a letter from Certegy explaining that a now past employee had stolen consumer information & was using it fraudulently.

My story is exactly the same as all these other people that have dealt w / National Consumer Services.
