Harrassment by phone and by mail demanding a large payment

My daughter had a cell phone plan through "Sprint" These people continue to put the bill in my name, She was behind on payments and tried to contact them to set up a payment arraignment, they will not co-operate they constantly call my home and ever time she tries to talk to them they give her an attitude and hang up on her, The original bill was 400.00 and is now up to 1,427.44,

My daughter is 8 mos. Pregnant and cannot work at this point Her intentions were to pay this off but now since they are unco-operative we are hesitant on paying them There is no way this bill should be this much This is insane. These people to me are very crooked and decietful, They are none stop harrassing us, Can you help me in any way to make this stop?
