Coral Group
Dishonest, brainwashing cult

Business & Finance

I worked at the Coral Group for about four months. The most important things I would recommend that people know before accepting a position are

1.) They will hire ANYONE. Please do not be duped into thinking they are looking for a certain number of individuals, or that it is a competitive position. They will also try to get you to start immediately, making you think if you cant start sooner, you will lose the chance.

2.) They LIE about what you will be making. They will say anywhere between 400-800 per week. Remember this is 100% comission based, and while there is no sales quota, you will be manipulated into buying the very thing you are selling to make goals... They call it bell. Additionally, you will have to pay for your own gas, transportation, food etc. When they say there is travel opportunity, they mean you go on a trip that you fund completely yourself and may end up making half of the cost of the trip... If you are lucky. When you hire people, you pay them 50 dollars per day if you go out "in the field" with them. Sometimes that is more than you make in a day.

3.) Anything that ANY LEADER or the OWNER says to you is probably a LIE or not the whole truth. Examples they give are usually bogus, and when they relate to you, THEY ARE SELLING YOU.

4.) What they dont tell you is that TONS of offices FAIL. Getting through the field is NOT the ONLY hard part. They also exaggerate the amount that owners and assistant managers make.

5.) It will ruin any relationships you might have. You will work 70-80 hours per week.

6.) The owner will yell at you if you do not make a certain number of sales.

7.) They will tell you everyone has an equal shot at making it to ownership. What they do not tell you is that if you suck up and flirt with the owner, you will have an easier time. If you do not (and are a lady) expect to be SHAT on.

8.) Favoritism occurs. Too much. If you want the interviews, the "good" campaigns, or an "extra" bonus, make the boss think youll suck him off, or if you are a guy, play golf with him.

9.) "Sports Marketing?" In my four months there, we worked with a go-karting facility in Colorado Springs, and the Colorado Sky Sox. Whoopdie-doo.

10.) Big Clients? Bigg City (CO Springs), Boondocks, Spas (sketchy, hole in the wall ones... Some nice though too), Papa Johns Pizza, Dry Cleaners... Ugh

11.) you will be manipulated into thinking everyone is making money. Nobody is!

12.) Everything you hear is a scripted pitch to manipulate you to make money for the owner.

13.) While the business model is nice, and somewhat legit, what they DONT tell you will break you. You will not make any money, and even if you get to ownership, very few offices do well.

Please read this and the aforementioned website before chosing to accept a position.
