Telemarkerting ripoffs

Just recieved a phone call, today (8/9/02) telling me i have been "selected" to recieve a gold credit card, they wanted alot of personal information over the phone, checking account number, other credit cards information, well i told them I didn't feel comfortable giving that info over the phone and when i started asking questions, like who are you and what is the bottom line to this call
the man said "he couldn't give me any of that info until I gave him the personal info he requested" and I hesitated then he said "hey if you don't want this credit card, I don't need to talk to you" Click.

Now I wasn't ripped off at least not yet, but I do have my doubts about this call. They seemed to have alittle too much info on me already. So be ware, and ask questions, and they'll probably hang up on you too!!!
