Business & Finance

After giving Homecomings $13,000 at the beginning of the month, I'm now packing to move to my new rental home. I would have been glad to make payments each month had they ever let me know what those payments were and where to send them. Long story, but we went into forebearance in Sept during Hurricane Katrina. I took our insurance money we received and gave it to Homecomings and received an amount of $1800 to pay each month for 6 months.

After 6 months, if I did everything they told me to do (Laura), they would put anything still owing at the back of the loan. Six months came and I called and they had no clue what I was talking about. They told me to pay another month of $1800. I did. I called in July numerous times and no one could tell me what to send or where.

Finally someone told me (Becky, I think) they needed me to send them a financial packet and they would arrange for a new appraisal (why?) and they would calculate a new payment amount. She told me not to worry about making a payment in July. I told her great! I can now get the hurricane damage repaired.

Called several times after I submitted the financial packet for a payment amount and where to send it to. The response was usually, "I don't know." We will call you back. This went on until the end of August. I spoke to Laura again, who was training Ruston, who informed me that she would get back to me after Labor Day.

I figured at some point someone was going to notice I wasn't paying a note and call me. No response from Homecomings.

In December I received a letter stating my new payment amount was $1500 due February. I sent a payment in the first of January and it was returned to me. Then they decided to send out a new financial packet and to appraise my house once again. I cooperated with the appraisal. I asked the real estate agent if she would let me know what it appraised for. She told me she couldn't.

You know what, I paid for the appraisal and I should be able to know what was said about MY house. Homecomings told me they could not give it to me either. At this point I contacted a lawyer and gave him my financial packet to submit.

At this point they wanted the $13,000 by March 1, on the dy of forclosure, with a promise from me that I would have the other $22,000 by March 31st.

Oh, the funny part of this... Remember I received a letter in December stating my payment amount would be $1500? I received a letter dated March 8 stating that my payment would be somewhere around $1750 beginning September!

Well, I guess you are as confused as I am.

So I must return to packing now. If you are forelosed upon and you have not moved your things out of your house, they can take everything in the house, too. I would hope they would let me have my cat and dog!

Next week, after the floreclosure, I'm back at the attorney's office. Saga will continue later..
