Caution on rental clause of Auto Incurance ripoff

If you have rental reimbursement coverage on your auto insurance take note: We have a claim for damage due to a meeting with a deer. My policy state Maximum rental reimbursement per occurance: $600. To me that means they will pay up to 600/rental while I'm getting repaired. Not so according to my claims rep. They consider a work day as 4 labor hours. If your accident requires 40 labor hours of work on the estimate, they will pay for 10 days of rental coverage, not up to 600. That means that if your body shop and the progressive adjuster agree to 40 labor hrs and it takes the body shop 15 days to repair your car, you pay 5 days of rental even if Progressive only paid 300 in rental for this occurence.

At no time while I was sold the insurance, when I made the claim, or when I picked up the rental was this explained to me.

The accident happened on a Friday night. On Saturday Morning I dropped the car off and picked up the rental. Progressive's adjuster can't get there till tuesday to estimate the damage. Therefore I've already used 16 hrs of labor time / 4 rental days. If it comes in at 20hrs repair and really takes them 5 days from today to get the parts, install, paint and finish, I'm going to be responsible for 4 days of rental.

Nice way to do business huh.
