Calling 10 times day, never leaving messages. OBNOXIOUS! Los Angeles California

Allied Interstate calls me 10 or more times a day, and never leaves a message (I know how often they call because of caller ID. The phone number has a 323 area code. Once, my husband answered. They asked for me, and he told them I was not available, could he help them? And they said "We'll call back" and hung up. They called last night, and hubby answered... They asked for me, and he said, "This is her husband - how can I help you?" They asked him, "Are the last digits of her social Security #..." (they had the right digits) and he said, "I don't know" and then he said, "What is this in reference to"? She asked, is your current addressss... (and gave an address from 4 years ago). And he said, "No... You have bad information... Please stop calling here" to which the totally ignorant-sounding and rude person said, "Why would I? I ain't got the right address" and hung up.

If they call again, Should I speak to them? I have EXCELLENT credit. I just checked my credit reports (all three bureaus) late in 06 and I have absolutely NO unpaid balances or delinquencies. There is a good possiblitity that this may be an old debt from the late 1980s - I had a similar experience w / another junk debt collector - but I ignored them and they went away.

I've seen other posts about this company... If I igonre them, will they stop calling? Right now it's a nuisance, but I don't want anything to ruin my good credit rating, and my concern is ANY communication with them will do that. I don't even know for sure WHY they are calling... I just know that today, my credit is good and I want to keep it that way.
