Wachovia Bank
NSF fees ripoff Columbus Georgia

Business & Finance

Wachovia Bank had the nerve to thank me for being a customer when I called them to question 2 NSF fees that were assessed to my account (this time). I put the transactions through and they were approved at the time of purchase, but all of a sudden, they say a gas station purchase posted and caused the other 2 to return NSF.

I asked how this was possible being that the account has to have the funds available to give an authorization and once the card is swiped the amount comes off the balance as a pending transaction and I was told that "gas stations only have to verify that the account is open and active." This can't be true because if I have $0.02 in my account, its open and active but if i swipe my card at the pump its going to say "DECLINED".

They even went so far as to take $400 dollars (from an account that I was added to as the secondary person) to cover an overdraft I had on a personal account. They didn't even attempt to verify whose funds were in that account. I could have just been on there and making no deposits into that account and they just flat out took the money and sent me a letter about it AFTER they had already done the withdrawal!

Mind you, this was the week my rent, car insurance and other majorly important bills were due. This has become a repeated cycle with them posting items when it's convenient for them to gladly assess fees to my account, therefore when my direct deposit hits the bank i'm left with barely enough to pay my bills. I have to now check my online account daily, several times a day because I feel like they are flat out stealing my hard earned money.

Everytime I ask about it I'm told, that's how it goes or it's based on the date of the transaction which is a lie. Either way you look at it. If I make a purchase and the amount of that purchase is taken away from my balance, there is no logical explanation as to why it would show up 3 days later as an NSF transaction. Something needs to be done.

I'm certain the bank commission won't put up with this type of behavior from them too much longer. Hate it for those that would possibly go without a job but stand in someone else's shoes for a moment. If you worked 8,10, 12 hours a day to provide for your family and someone just snatches your money from underneath you, you'd be making the same comments and most probably have with their own creditors.

I am now SERIOUSLY considering closing my account with these ripoffs. I just can't see repeatedly paying fees for WACHOVIA'S shortcomings as a business that is supposed to be there to meet the needs of the customer, not cause the customer unnecessary stress and money.

I work for a rather large company and word of mouth is a KILLER in the business community. Believe me, when this word gets around, as it has already started to do. The impact will truly be felt in Wachovia's pocket instead of mine for a change.
