Ripoff - not sure if they are attempting to rip me off, but... Baltimore Maryland

I'm not sure if they are attempting to rip me off or not, but I got laid off and I still managaged to make my payments before the end of the month. I made my payment over the phone on the 29th of the month, but noticed that I was not charged a late fee. I was charged the $15.00 "just in time" fee, but there was no late charge. When I asked the customer services representative about this she there was none noted on my account. Also, when I looked at my bill and next to the late fee date of the 16th there was no amount. I immediately called back and the representative I spoke with had no explanation for this either. I asked to speak with someone who might have an explanation for this and was told that maybe the computer had not posted the late fee yet. I find this highly unusual seeing as it is August 29th, and I seriously doubt they are doing me any favor by not charging a late fee simply because I am unemployed. At any rate, the representive told me I could mail it in, but did not know the amount. I was told previously that it was $21.84 (I'm not sure of the exact change, but the dollar amount was definitely $21.00). She told me that it was just $20.00. I mailed in $22.00. I have not had any problems with this company, but after reading all the information out there, I thought that I had better be sure and mail this to them in case they were attempting something shady that will come back and bite me in the butt in the future.
