Ripoff

I am writing this report because I feel there is something more to this that Discover Card is saying. I have been with Discover for 5 years and really have had a good relationship with them. I got a balance transfer a few years ago with a great low apr. The apr was renewable as long as I make 1 required transaction in each billing cycle.

Well last year I made the purchase late in the billing cycle but I still felt pretty safe sense the merchant I buy at always posts the same day, they posted the same day for the previous 8 months. Also every purchase I had made in the prior 12 months posted the same day. For the first time it posted 3 days after the purchase, this was also the first time I was so close to the end of the billing cycle.

I called Discover card and they renewed the apr offer and sent me a long letter stating that it was my responsiblity to be sure I made the purchase each month with enough time for the item to post. I agree with that to a point. I have no control whatsoever as to when a merchant posts an item ot my account, I beleive they can take up to 30 days from what I have been told. All I can do in good faith is make the required purchase in the alloted time frame. I also feel that would be holding my end of the agreement as far as legal ends (I'll leave that one for a lawyer).

Well for the second time I made my purchase close to the end of the billing period. Actually I made 3 seperate purchases at 3 different merchants and all was merchants that always post the same day, it was not a weekend or a holiday or online btw. The purchases were made 4 to 5 days before the last day of the billing cycle and ALL the purchases didn't post till a day after the next billing cycle! I contacted 2 of the merchants and they show that the transactions were submitted the same day as the purchase.

So for the time being I have not decided where I am going with this but I have lost my confidence that Discover card is dealing with my account in a proper fashion. I am not as concerned with loosing the apr as I am with the thought of of a company dealing with their customers with this sort of tricks.
