Nationwide Recovery Systems, (NRS) They Harass you but don't come through on their DEAL

We received many harassing calls about a Cingular cell bill collection ($3500). We had disputed with Cingular and paid what we felt we owed $268 dollars. Then NRS called a year later, saying we owed twice the amount of the Cingular bill ($7000), but they would settle for HALF the amount. The amount was remitted but the pay-off statement I requested via e-mail was sent encrypted. I called and requested a snail mail statement, none received.

This is looking like a classic case of debt collectors buying accounts and milking them for everything they can get. My credit report still shows this debt with NO payment made.

NRS is deceptive and obviously has no intention of holding to any part of a verbal bargain they make. DO NOT pay them. They will not provide any closure to your debt.
