Ripoff, fraud, negligent, dishonest, oblivious to customers

Wachovia closed my credit card account over a year ago. I paid them off recently and thought the matter closed. A few weeks ago I recieved another statement telling me to send them a new annual fee plus interest.
I did not authorize renewal of this account. Since it is still closed, as far as borrowing more money is concerned, why would I want to pay another annual fee for a credit card that is useless?
I sent them a written letter to this affect, in accordance with their policy, notifying them that I did not wish to continue doing business with them and I did not owe them another year of annual fees.
They have ignored my request and continue to charge me.
