Watch out for merchants' credit guide!

I received a phone call regarding an "important business matter". Not being new to the collections game, I knew that this is what the call was for.

Over the years, I have had less than perfect credit, however, I have been working very hard to remedy this. I even paid off my defaulted student loan!

I called the 800 number that was left on my machine and was told that the original creditor that I owed was Charter One Bank for $369.29. Strange since I have a valid account with that bank. Upon further investigation, I called Charter One, they said my account was fine. They don't even use a third party collection agency.in fact, the collection division is DDA Recovery, and upon speaking with them, they too stated there was no account charged off under my SS#.

Reading all of the stories online, I found out that the "client" that was listed as CFB Financial III LLC was really Merchants' Credit Guide. HMMMMMM...

I have written to dispute this, and will let you know when they tell me they were in error.

I felt so much better after seeing all of the stories about them on the net. Are they just plucking imaginary accounts out of the air??
