IRL Of Georgia
Ripoff Credit card scammers

Business & Finance

IRL of Georgia sent a card through the U.S. Mail which I relied to in regard to an award I was to be able to obtain.

Upon calling these people, I was told that my credit card company had entered me in a big sweepstakes and also used their name (the card companies name) and gave me part of the credit card number, to which I stupidly gave them the rest before I thought about what I was doing.

I was then given over to a "supervisor" who also used the credit card number portion and I again gave the whole number. (bad move)
He then spoke very quickly about the "deal" I would be receiving and the fact that the conversation was being recorded.

His statements were repeated several times and then before I was sure of what was going on I was on a magazine subscription scam.

When I called back the next day to cancel what I finally realized was a stupid move on my part, I was told that I could reduce the amount I had to pay from 39.99/month to 24.99/month.

About two weeks or so later I received a number of pages in the mail to confirm my subsciption and get the free diamond watch I was eligible to receive.

When I looked these papers over a week later, I realized that I had not signed anything authorizing them to take monies from my credit card and they perhaps were awaiting this. The letter stated that I had to give them this information to get the free watch.

Instead of sending the papers back to them all signed and ready, I called my credit card company with this information and they, in turn, cancelled my account and started a new one because I noticed that the money was already being taken from me. The card company is also investigating this because, I suspect, they are not happy about IRL of Georgia using their name to obtain my participation in this scam.

I thank the consumer complaints for giving me information from others that were taken like I was and the ability to relate my counter-action that has stopped any further charges from being put on my credit card.
