Perhaps they are not too bright. Ripoff

I sustained extensive hurricane damage in 2004 and 2005. State Farm's adjuster was on site quickly and issued me a check for about $8,000. He documented about $30,000 worth of damage and told me that priorities were removing the large tree from my roof and replacement of the roof.

The tree was removed, and after waiting for a contractor the roof was replaced. (About $11,000) Midland had my $8,000 check and released it after I explained that the contractor was going to kill me. Now at a negative $4,000, my insurance company issued another check for $7,000 so I could continue with repairs and reminds me that there are more funds that I am entitled to once I have reached a certain point in the overall repair.

I sent the check to Midland and have battled over the phone on numerous occasions only to be asked "What are you trying to do get another roof out of US!" How absurd is that? First, I have been paying insurance premiums for 18 years, that's money to be spent to repair MY property.

I have a $35,000 balance on a $300,000 home and I can't get them to understand that the money they are holding is needed to protect OUR investment. I have mold growing from the walls and ceilings, cracks in the drywall. They sent an investigator to assess the damage, take pictures, and report. Still they just don't get it. As I stated earlier; Perhaps they are just not too bright! Thanks
