I too purchased a townhome from Lennar at the Villas at Northpark less than two months ago. I was initially told that the townhomes were "soundproof" and unless someone was "extremely" loud I would not be able to hear my neighbors.
Not true. When I tell you that I can hear everything that my neighbors are doing, I mean EVERYTHING! This includes television, normal conversation and music. I would expect this from an older townhouse, but a new build?!?! What is upsetting to me is the fact that I was told specifically that the house would be "soundproof." If the house was not truly soundproof, Lennar representatives should not be using that terminology.
I have also had several issues with the electricity going out in two of the three rooms. I also do not have any electricty in any of my wall outlets in the master bathroom. Of course when you do your final walk-through I was not conscience enough to bring an electric appliance to ensure all the outlets worked.
I have grown accustomed to periodically flipping the circuit breaker in order for these rooms to work at least two times a week. Last week, I was home alone and the electricity went out completely for four hours. Yes, the bill was paid. I went out to my breaker box repeatedly and I got nothing! It was not until my last attempt that the power was restored to my house.
I was also told by a Lennar representative that my electricty would be on three business days after I closed. I was told that I would need to use these three days in order to switch the electricity to my name. Guess what? When I moved in there was NO electricity. My lease was up on my previous apartment and I was stuck at night in 40 degree temperature with no heat. When I inquired about the electricity the next day, I was told I needed to call the power company. When I called the power company, they informed me that I did not have the authority to request service for a Lennar account. When I called the representative back I was given a Lennar phone number in which I was transferred four times and then told to call another number. It was not until two days later that the lights were on.
I wish to move as quickly as possible. The area is nice and my neighbors friendly. But I do not want to wait and see what other problems may arrise from staying here. It has only been two months and I believe my money should be spent elsewhere.
