Fannie Mae ripoff extortion, misleading, liars

I tried to refinance my house with PHH Mortgage. It started off well enough. I have great credit and got an good rate. Then it went downhill... They set a date for closing the loan but weren't able to confirm my insurance because of a routing problem at my bank. We called the bank and corrected it immediately. However, they didn't get back that they confirmed insurance for several days. At the time, I didn't think much of it because no one had made me aware of the time crunch we were under.in the end they didn't send me the paperwork to be notorized until Saturday March 4th and the paper work was due March 6th. When speaking to the rep at PHH we discussed the fact that the paperwork was arriving very late but she led me to believe that the date was soft and that as long as we were timely about getting the paperwork done it wouldn't be a problem. My wife and I work very different hours and weren't able to both be a the notary until the following Saturday March 11.

I spoke with the rep again as was told we would simply have to change the dates from the 6th to the 11th. Later she called back and said that wasn't the case.instead, I would lose my rate if I didn't added $4000 dollars to the loan amount. I said I couldn't do that and then they were going to charge me over $1000 dollars for cancelling.in the end, they charged me $451 dollars. So, now I'm left having jumped through all these hoops with nothing to show for it but being screwed out of $451 dollars. I really feel mislead. I tried to get help with this but PHH was completely inflexible. I can't imagine that customer service will say anything different.
