After refinancing with Option One and all seemed well, my mother set up autopay with her bank. When told that she would have one month off from payments by Option One, her bank told her to stop the auto pay for that month. The bank accidently stopped auto pay permanently and mom thought it had continued so she didn't think she had any problems.
Option One contacted her to say that her payment was late and she became very distraught. She called her bank and set up auto pay again but by now the payment was almost 2 weeks late.
She called them to explain what happened and they would not listen. They began refusing to take her checks, only accepting money orders and starting harassing her by calling 3 and 4 times per day. Fearing foreclosure she filed for bankruptcy and that has ruined her credit so she is stuck with Option One.
They have been asked repeatedly to provide her with a full accounting of the mortgage, which they have not done. Charged her late fees when she has a 15 day grace period for her due dats, a fact that they have ignored, and countlessly tried scare tactics with attorneys.
She is 70 years old, not in great health and this issue has caused her much undue stress and anxiety for which she has had to be medicated. Option One will not answer her calls by routing and rerouting her calls through voice mail and constantly ignoring her correspsondence. She cannot send regular checks and must go to the bank for cash and then to Amscot for free money orders as she is not a wealthy woman and living on a fixed income.
Option One is a disgraceful excuse for a mortgage company and should be investigated by the attorney general.
