About a couple of weeks back, i got a call from platinum benefit group offering a platinum benefit group plan, i didn't have much time to decide if i wanted it, so i decided to give it a try.
About 10 mins later, i felt i didn't need it due to my employment status at the time. Then i called their office stating that i wanted the aggreement cancelled immediately, i also stated that i would apply later atleast when i get a new job.
Few days later, my account was charged a sum of 129.95 for the so called platinum benefit. At that point, i knew i had made a very huge mistake but i tried to correct it. I called their office again, demanding a refund of my money that I didn't want their service. I was persuaded to just accept the card, which i refused.
All these while, their Refund policy was never mentioned in anyway.
Then i was told to write a letter with my cancellation number to their office requesting a refund. I was atleast glad that i might atlast get a refund, but unknown to me, they had already decided i wasn't getting a refund.
Few days later, i receieved their reply stating that their was no credit due, at that point, i broke down, not because of $129.95 but because i knew i had been taken advantage of.
When i spoke with them on phone their refund policy was never mentioned, if i was aware of their policy, i wouldn't have bothered wasting my stamps or even asking for a refund.
Well, i called to ask why i wasn't getting a refund, then they told me about their "policy" that just came out of the blue to me. *Every service should and have always made it clear, if their policy was non-refundable or refundable.
However, this is unfair and totally unacceptable. Their policy was not made known to me at first and i consider that totally unprofessional. Besides they said the service was free for the first month, where as, i never got to use the first service, so why shouldn't i be refunded? It is unfair to render such services. I have been charged for a service not rendered at all and i have no hope of getting my hard earned money back. I hope they find themselves in my shoes someday. However, i want to thank (them) platinum benefit group for this huge lesson, i have learned a lot from this and you bet i will never come around again.
