Ripoff, multilevel marketing scam

My daughter called after seeing this ad in the local paper: GENERAL HELP: sports minded, new office has entry level positions. No exp. Will train. 634-4082 (the ad appeared again a couple of days later with a new phone number, 634-4616).

The interview was held at a sparsely furnished office in a business complex with NO name on the door. At the first interview with Jermy Keifer, Manager on 1/03/06 she was alone, she was told of the possible $30,000-40,000 a year, paid health insurance, paid company trips, etc. The 2nd "group" interview was on 1/05/06 with about 20 others, call young 20 somethings.

The so-called "orientation" was on 1/09/06 & was sent home with a list of men's and women's fragrances to sell to family & friends, it was a "contest". There was no preprinted orientation packet that you normally get on orientation day. Some of the information given raised a red flag and she wanted some questions answered. So on 1/10/06 it was pretty much the same thing, being given all the "key" names, Johnny Whitworth, Dan Long... And she came home with actual bottles of the so-called perfume (rendition).

After the "training session was over" she asked manager Jermy Keifer, who the parent company was, she was told World Perfume, Inc (WPI) & he volunteered that they were registered with the BBB. We checked out the website for WPI, sent a report request to our local BBB and also asked for a report on WPI, which naturally came back satisfactory because every distribution office has a different name.

On day 5 of this nightmare, 1/11/06 she went out with 2 other people and went to at least 50 businesses, she sold one bottle, another sold 2 and the other none. They were told to tell people they were not "solicitors". She was paid her $6 in commission IN cash for the 1 bottle she sold, not the $7 stated because the person who has been with them for 4 weeks helped her to make the sale, so she got $1. My daughter was tired, miserable and decided this was not for her and didn't go back on 1/12/06. As an FYI, the other Branch Manager at this location is Dan Chasin and Crisse McCormick is Front Manager.

After reading reports on your sight, she was amazed at how scripted everything was. I guess the lesson here is, if it sounds to good to be true, IT IS!!! On the first day of orientation, they were told that if they decided this wasn't for them, no need to call in. We will be contacting the local Attorney General to file a complaint.

These people need to be stopped. Fortunately, my daughter did not need to put out any of her own money.
