Ripoff, Overdraft Double Dipping

Thanks to a recent screw-up with my XM Radio subscription (I was charged for three months when I requested month to month billing) I was charged with $66.00 in overdrafts fees to my account. I would not even dispute the first overdraft fee for $33.00. The checkcard item was clearly overdraft by about $19.

Although I have had stated to me by Wells Fargo employees that you have a day to cover a minus balance on your account before they assess an overdraft penalty, and both penaltiess where assessed within two hours.

The second overdraft fee I believe is an example of double dipping by Wells Fargo. A week before I had updated an online magazine subscription for $6 a month, and had it billed to my Checkcard. That $6.00 was withdrawn from my account that same day and listed as pending checkcard activity.

When that $6.00 charge hard-posted to my account the same day that I had a minus balance in my account I got socked with another $33 fee. Keep in mind that $6 had been deducted from my account when it was in good standing and had been gone for about a week. I couldn't use that $6.00 nor did I spend it.

I called Wells Fargo and got some BS excuse that because the $6 checkcard was "pending" it was still in my account. But it clearly wasn't in my account. I went around this track a few times before getting the usual, Well, thats Our Policy... BS.

Ever bank charges overdrafts, and everyone is responsible for keeping their accounting house in order. But I think this is a clear example of double dipping to make an extra buck.

That $6 was deducted from my account a week before the overdraft, pending or no.
