Compass Bank
Thanks you just lost my business, you stink! Ripoff

Business & Finance

I switched to compass bank only 2 weeks ago, my god what a mistake that was.

Example, this weekend, I deposit a mere $60 to cover some transactions over the weekend.

At the time I had a balance of a mere $2, but had no pending transactions on my account, I am very careful about such things.

According to compass, I have $82 availalbe, blah blah blah, I know that I really only have a little over $60 available. I made one atm withdrawal in the amount of $40 with a fee of $2.

Also I made 1 purchase for fuel in the amount of $18. Should leave me about $0 in the account, this was made on Saturday.

Monday I had an additional $150 deposited electronicly, monitoring the online system I have never once went negative. Which fits with my records perfectly.

Today, the 13th I notice one fee in the amount of $36. I called and they charged me a fee on that $18 transaction for fuel, which never according to my records put me in the negative.

I added up all the transactions according to date and amount, I never once went in the negative according to my records. The cust service rep tried to say I only had. 18 in the account when the $18 charge.

Also, I noticed they put debits in before deposits, always. Unlike other bankd that ALWAYS put deposits in before debits. I now I am told that I will have another 3 $36 fees, because the 1 $36 fee created an NSF for 3 more debit transactions (because they put that in there first) on the same day, when the money was always available. I now have 4 checks out, and they are all going to bounce because of their stupid accounting practices.

Thanks compass, you are fabulous. You definitely have lost my business forever. Why should I trust a bank that can't even keep their accounting practices straight. Your only goal is very appearant, its to charge the customer as many fees as possible, even if you have to lie cheat and steal to do it.

IF any of you, are the type that live paycheck to paycheck, do yourself a favor, do not bank with compass, they will screw you over for sure. I am sure if you have thousands in the bank then you will not have a problem if you never go within $100 of your balanace. They are seriously not worth your time, unless you like paying a bunch of fees, it shouldn't cost hundreds every month just to have a bank.

My account is going to go negative, and guess what, its just going to stay that way. IF they try to come after me I will just get a lawyer to expose their unfair accounting practices. As a consumer I have rights, and I reserve the right to not get screwed, and do something about it when it does happen.

They have malicious intentions. There is such a thing as a customer error, while I do belive that a $36 fee for a minor mistake is extreme, I will take the blame where it is expected. But I do not take the blame, when they intentionally mislead you. They can kiss my ass, I want to bank with someone I can trust, but I am not sure who that would be now. I used thi think wells fargo was the worst, but they are saints compared to compass bank.
