American Financial Savings Benefits
Ripoff scam

Business & Finance

I was contacted by a representative of American Finacial Savings Benefits, based in Miami Florida, who told me they would give me a major credit card, (Visa, Mastercard, or Discover) if I accepted their package, and paid them $240.00. For this fee, I would receive the credit card, a 2 night/3day paid vacation to anywhere in the United States, a pre-paid 1000 minute phone card, a free cell phone, and a 30 day Auto club card. They assured me I would receive it within 14 days.

I fell for the scam and paid them the amount of 240.00. I called their toll free number, 1-800-257-5330 three weeks later, and was told because of the "Valentine Day Rush" they were unable to send the package. Two weeks later, I was told by an office mananger, who told me her name was Linda, that she would put a search on the package, and if I did not receive it by the following Friday, she would garuntee that I would have a full refund. I did not recieve the package or a refund.

The next week I did eventually receive the package, and found that I had been ripped off! The credit card I received was a catalog card only, to be used only for purchases to this company. The vacation package is non-existant, the cell phone has to be paid for in advance, another fee of 38.00. The phone card was not included, Nor were there any letters concerning this "phone card."

The auto club card, was never received.included in this "package" was a booklet on how to apply for a major credit card, a catolg where I could purchase items from them, but only if I used the credit card.

A brochure for a cell phone company, and a letter thanking me for joining them. When I tried to phone them the I was told that at no time do they give refunds, then, they hung up on me. I tried once more to call and spoke to a woman named Shelby who told me that they never give refunds, the package was mine, and I was free to give it back to them, regardless of using the "card." I was lied to over the phone by their representatives, They took my money and gave me a pile of useless papers, a piece of plastic that can only be used in their company, and then dared to call themselves a real business. I was scammed by them, given false promises, and ripped off!
