I was one of the "lucky" consumers who received the good news in the mail that I was pre-approved and all I had to do was call and activate my card.

Luckily I found this website and found out what a scam all of this is before I made that phone call. The letter I received stated it had been updated as of 12/14/04, and their wording seems a little more "cautious" than the promises that had been made earlier.

Since my credit isn't too good, I had considered activating and getting a new computer, even though I knew I would pay a higher price. Thank you so much for this website. I would have been charged the $199.00 activation fee and the $99.00 annual fee and there is no telling if I would have even received the catalog in time.

I imagine it is next to impossible to cancel your membership, even if you tried to do it within the specified trial period, and I wonder if anyone has ever ordered and received any products? It didn't say much about monthly payments except for a vague reference to a minimum of $200.00. How do they know that before you have made a purchase???

Also, the grammar in this lengthy letter did not seem to be "professional" and/or appropriate, compared to other credit card offers I have received. It's a shame that this company is allowed to continually mail this information to consumers and that they are allowed to drain the bank accounts of those who call in to activate their account. I am going to make a copy of these letters, but I will definately shred the original, along with that fake credit card that is attached.
