Ripoff increased interest rates fraud

This concerns an account with a Amazon.com/Bank One, now Chase credit card account.in my March bill my interest was raised from 15.9 to 29.89%. When i called to complain about this I was told notice was sent out in Dec. 04.

I never received said letter, if I had I would have been on the phone instantly. Of course now they say too much time has passed to close down at the old interest rate. Their reasoning was that Experian or whatever other credit weasels had sent them a letter saying I had other accounts approaching their limits.

That made me a credit risk even though I have never missed a payment on any of my accounts and make enough money to maintain them at reasonable rates. They pretty much told me tough luck bub and to live with it. Of course I was close to the limit on this one and the new inflated interest rate jacked up the interest amount and put the balance over limit, so I'm sure next months bill will hold a lovely over limit fee.

I just can't believe they can get away with such blatant disregard for long term reliable customers in good standing. I feel sorry for the poor person who might be stretched to the limit and unable to afford to make the payments, just like these fat cats to kick people when they're down. It's bad enough the money they already make off of us, and it's partly my fault for stretching them close to the limit, but sometimes things just happen. I will be paying them off very soon.
