HomeEQ, disorganized, dishonest, predatory lender, a torturous ordeal

My ordeal with HomeEQ started like most of the other acounts here. I fell behind in my payments and was besieged with harrassing calls from morning untill about 11:00 pm. Sometimes threatening messages sometimes hang ups. I would offer to make payments and be told they would refuse all but the full amount due. When I could get them to accept a payment, they would tell me a check was not an option for me, so we would use check by phone. This lasted for a few months untill they tried to take a payment without my authorization.

I found this out from my bank when they tried to charge bounced check fees for the check I had never authorized. This was when they started with the misc. Charges and late fees. We paid and thought we were up to date, so we were suprised to get a forclosure notice. I contacted them to find out what was going on and got another surprise. They told me that I was 3 payments behind. When I gave them check numbers dates and amounts, they told me that the money had been applied to my escrow account. I did not know I had an escrow account! They had paid my taxes for the year and not informed me. My only way out was to file a bankruptcy, which I did. I filed a chapter 7 saved some money to get my account current and sent them what they told my attorney I owed.

As soon as I recieved the discharge letter I started the process to refinance with someone else. They recieved the request for pay off info, sent it to my new lender. I thought everything was OK, and then 3 DAYS before my closing they retuned the money I had sent them, told me I owed an aditional $12,000 and filed forclosure papers again stopping my refinance! I responded by filing a chpter 13 bankruptcy, listing the amount they now said I owed. 1 year into my payment plan they filed a supplemental claim saying I owed an additional $3000. Now 6 months later I have been mistakenly dischared because the trustee made an error, leaving me still $10,000 behind according to homeEQ, with no bankruptcy protection and no way to raise an amount so large.

I have been going through this ordeal for almost 3 years now and it has left me emotionally as well as financially bankrupt, almost ended my marriage and already cost me one job. I will probably have my home stolen by these criminals now, and am to the point where it will almost be a relief.
