Credit card ripoff

Being a new resident of Florida, I stumbled upon a very common issue amongst new "Canadians" - CREDIT. We have none! Once employment status has been established, a bank account opened, I was at a stand still with the credt issue. I was contacted by a company claiming to be a part of a US bank. They said they woud offer me a credit card with a credit line of $5000. They will do this with no credit check. The only catch was a $300 one time fee. I agreed with this and was very excited about the credit card. I had been contacted by various other companies regarding credit cards, but offering "special catalog services and purchases". I verified by the company that I agreed to open the account with that this wasent the case. She clearly stated in the conservation "A REAL CREDIT CARD, WHICH COULD BE USED ANYWHERE".

I was also asked to select a color - so I selected orange. After completing the order, she said the sum of $299 will be withdrawn from my account. No doubt the amount was deducted from my account, but no credit card yet. After a week after the amout was withdrawn, I recieved a package in the mail from the company, and you guessed it - it was a catalog purchase program, with a white card. My wife at this point was very angry with me to make the decision in the first place. So I decided to call the company up the next day.instead I get a live answering service that faxes the message to the so called credit card company. So I leave a message saying that I recieved the wrong package. 2 days go by and no one returnes my call. So my wife decides to call, and this time someone did return the call. She explained the situation to the person, and he was very nice about it and said, jst put the package in the mail and return it back to us, and we will give you a full refund, or if you want can send the proper card.

My wife just wanted the money back. So we were happy. 3 weeks go by and no refund. We start making the phone calls again to the company, and you guessed it neither on of us got the calls back. My wife decided to use her maiden name and a different phone number to call. Half an hour later we get a call back. My wife said to the person that its very sad that we have to call using a different name and number. They said they will make sure we get the money. A week went by and no refund.instead another transaction of $299 was made from our account from the same company. "THEY WITHDREW ANOTHER $299!" My wife screemed! No I knew it was a fraud copany. I contactd my bank and they said they can't do anything because I was the one who gave the account number initally.

So no we are stumped $600, and no credit card. I cannot get a hold of the company in anyway, I also checked the zip we sent the package back to on the UPS recipt and it came up as an invalid zip.

The company's name is CORECO Enterprises Inc.
