My husband an I received a loan in 2003 on our home. Centex hired Sylvan Jefferies to appraise our home.
In 2004 we decided to refinance our home for a much lower interest rate. We were approved then when it came to having our appraisal we found out our house would not appraise for the amout it had been appraised for previously. Our house should have appraised for 91,000 in 2003. Centex and Sylvan Jefferies appraised it at 126,000. Mr. Jefferies added square footage and an extra bathroom.
I have spent the last year trying to come to an agreement with this company. We did not want money. We wanted them to rewrite the loan at the lower interest rate we were approved for.
We were refused siting that we should have noted the exception to the appraisal at the time of closing. We never saw the appraisal until 2004 when we demanded a copy.
This company will not take responsiblity for handling this loan incorrectly.
