I just received a telephone call from USA Credit, 800-634-6729. My husband and my home phone and cellular phones are registered with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), and cannot be called, unless we have business with a specific corporation, which with USA Credit we do not.

In asking a lot of questions, I was told, after surmising that I had not applied for credit on line prior to this unwanted telemarketing call, that I received this call due to a pop up on my computer. A pop up? How is it they can call because I received a pop up? No answer to that one, they were very quiet on the other end of the line.

Access this site: https://www.donotcall. Gov/default. Aspx. Fill out the form that disallows telemarketing companies (besides the one's that you already have business with), and you will be protected, to an extent, from telemarketing calls. If a telemarketing firm breaks that contract, they are fined. I've verified that we've been with the National Do Not Call list since 1/27/04 - and that we are on the list until 10/7/09. I have reported USA Credit, and I hope whomever else might access this entry would do the same.

As a side note, I was a telemarketer back in 1987 - it is not a fun job, I respect those that choose that as their career path. However, when someone asks that they be removed, they had better do as told, or they will rack up fees that will end up closing down their business.
