Ripoff, fraud, Fair Debt Collection Act violations, abuse, harassment

I was not shocked to see all of the complaints made about Emerge/Providian Master Card. I am also a victim of their abuse.

About three or four years ago Providian mailed me a letter explaining the account was being sold to Emerge Master Card. My Providian account was in good standing and I made timely payments. My credit limit was $2,000. For months I did not receive a bill. Almost six months later, I received a bill with a 29.99% interest rate, I was over the limit P0.00, and I was charged late and over the limit fees for $35.00 each. I've attempted to resolve the account with Emerge but they refused. I've tried to make payment plans and negotiate the late and over the limit fees but Emerge declined and stated they could not help me. Meanwhile, I was being reported late every 30 days to the credit reporting agencies and my credit history ruined. I still made payments to Emerge ranging from $75-$500 at a time to try to get below the credit limit.

Here it is Jan and Emerge states that I owe $4,081.95. They have called my house and place of employment excessively and even on Sunday mornings. My family members and I have been threatened with law suits and debt collectors. Emerge even offered me a bogus monthly payment plan for $76.00 and to suspend my interest payments for a year. Well, that did not work. They did not stick to the plan.

Now, Emerge has forwarded my account to Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC located in St. Cloud MN for debt collection. I've been called and harassed by this company also. Finally, years of late and over the limit fees and my credt ruined, Jefferson Capital Systems agreed to offer me a payment plan for $428.61 a month to pay off the account.in which, Emerge has not agreeded to report the account as paid in full. And my credit report will remain incorrect. I have notified the BBB and Federal Trade Commission.

Emerge needs to be sued for harassment, violations, fraud, abuse, and illegal Fair Debt Collection Acts.
